Goldberg began his career as a professional artist in the early 1970's. As a student enrolled in the University of Houston art program, he began to explore shapes and colors through large scale acrylic paintings.

As his style matured, he worked outside the box by building custom canvases in a variety of shapes, mostly large hexagons.​
